AARP 55 Alive Defensive Driving Class

This AARP-sponsored class is held at the Senior Centre several times each year. A certificate awarded upon completion of the course qualifies you for a discount on your auto insurance. Reservations are required. The cost of the class is $12 for AARP members, and $14 for non-members. Please bring your AARP card to class with you to qualify for the lower rate. Payment must be made in advance to the Senior Centre.

AARP Tax Preparation Assistance

Trained AARP volunteers visit the Centre between early  February and mid-April to help prepare your income tax returns at no charge. Appointments are available on Mondays and Wednesdays between 10:00 AM through 3:00 PM. Appointments must be made in advance.

Social Worker's Assistance, Health Insurance Counseling Available by Appointment

For assistance with transportation, home care, HEAP, housing, Social Security, or similar senior concerns, please phone the Centre office at 682-7889 for referral to a social worker. These free services are available through the County Department of Aging and Youth to residents of Onondaga County aged 60 or over. The social worker will make an appointment to visit you in your home. If you have questions about the program, please contact the office.

For health insurance counseling, please call the Department of Aging directly at 435-2362 and ask to speak to a HIICAP counselor.

Annual Flu Shot Clinic

A flu shot clinic is scheduled each fall in cooperation with Regional Medical Services.

Senior Centre Nutrition Program

The Senior Centre serves lunches every Monday through Thursday at noon. A donation of $3.50 is requested, and reservations must be made by 1:30 PM on the previous day. No one will be turned away for inability to pay. Click here for this month's menu.

A free blood pressure clinic is provided by medical staff members of Wynwood of Manlius monthly in the Senior Centre's Lamoreaux Room. Readings are usually taken on the second Tuesday of each month, between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM, depending on provider availability. Please phone 682-7889 to confirm our next clinic date.
